It was a brisk March morning drive over to Lacesston Farm in Fife this week to present John Weir, the winner of our sponsored AgriScot Scottish Arable Farm of the Year Award with his official farm sign. Lots of good chat around what we’ll be doing over the year with John to enhance his farming operations.

As a starter for ten and with access already granted, our visit gave us the opportunity to introduce John to our online precision portal KORE and look at the tools available to him, what they show, what he can do with them and how this can benefit him. John already practices aspects of precision farming and so is very keen to delve a little deeper into the newer innovations potentially open to him. Over the coming months we will continue to follow-up with more news about what’s happening at Lacesston throughout the seasons.

John took the news of being unveiled as the winner as ‘an honour and a real surprise to have been considered.’ His nomination by someone is still a mystery to him and he really didn’t think he was in with a fighting chance of winning, so originally contemplated not attending AgriScot!
