About SoilEssentials, a small business with big ambition

SoilEssentials are in this for the long term. Already 20 years in this industry, there have been many twists and turns along the way and understand there’s no quick fix.

Steady growth and the simple ethos of keeping our grassroots and muddy boots gives SoilEssentials the foundations for a sustainable future.

Teamwork makes the dream work

It’s all about the team – the team of people behind the SoilEssentials name. A colourful cocktail of individuals bringing a unique skill set to enhance and progress the company. We operate with three distinct teams – Precision Agronomy, Machine Control and Software Development & Projects, who pull together to offer the customer real, integrated precision farming solutions. But it doesn’t end there – we pride ourselves in our excellent customer service and support, being right there with you, year in, year out no matter what the season.

The precision farming journey is never-ending, ever-evolving and we thrive on the emergence of new technologies, developments and the opportunities that arise. Our enthusiasm for being at the forefront of new technologies and our wish to push the boundaries is ever present. Increasingly, there are exciting projects to get involved with, partnering with some of the most influential and ground-breaking research and development teams around, including Innovate UK, European Space Agency, James Hutton Institute, Newcastle University, Cambridge University to name a few.

How it all began

Jim Wilson and Robert Ramsay – quite simply, two farmers with working farms and directors of SoilEssentials. A heritage in farming, a questioning mind and a passion for all that is precision gave them a vision. A vision to make farming better.

Jim and Robert are frequently in demand as speakers for their knowledge, insight and enthusiasm for the subject and they regularly give talks to a wide array of organisations, government bodies, conferences and educational institutions, both here and abroad. Invitations from the British High Commission to New Zealand and South America are not unusual.

Our Awards

Over the years we have entered awards and been lucky enough to win some. They are a great way to boost staff morale, raise positive awareness for SoilEssentials and remind us that what we are doing is worthwhile and that we should continue to do it.
