We love to talk. And all this week, we are ready to #KeepTalking with as many people as possible. We are feeling the effects of no Royal Highland Show so, this is our alternative! An opportunity to still have the chats we enjoy normally on our stand and the more calls we take or make the better…as we will donate £1 for every call to RSABI as part of their #KeepTalking campaign.

Below you will find an enthusiastic line-up from our SoilEssentials team, all with something unique to offer, ready and waiting…to speak to you! Come along, join in and #KeepTalking

1. Jim Wilson, MD and Farmer:

I eat, sleep and breathe Precision Farming and like nothing more than to talk about it too! My topics are broad and far reaching …if you have an interest in the technical details of soil sampling, yield mapping, soil scanning, UAV use, satellite imagery, crop sensors or GNSS systems, then get in touch.

I would also be happy to give my advice on; when best to use specific tools and particular techniques and discuss the various plus and minus points of them; how to get the best return on investment in precision farming; VRA lime, P and K, N seed – when they work (and when the don’t) and; which tools and techniques have stood the test of time.

The future

• Which technologies are likely to be successful in the future – autonomous vehicles and robots?
• Where next? Development projects in Precision Farming – do you have an idea and want to see if it would work? What is the market for this idea? If you are a researcher, this could be an opportunity to discuss your proposal

2. Robert Ramsay, Sales Director and Farmer:

Controlled traffic farming and other production systems change

I have gone through the process of going from a plough-based system to a CTF min till system, saving 40% of fuel and I believe farming better with less horsepower and improved productivity. I would be delighted to share the lessons that I have learnt on that journey, how technology can be a driver for real change and the attitude needed to deliver on that. I also chair Scotisht Government’s Agri-Tech Group and am always looking for how farmers are changing how they produce, based on innovation. There are many innovations being investigated at the moment, Hemp, Rye, Sugar Beet as new Scottish crops, an Agri-Tech hub in Angus, new solutions for PCN problems. Call with any thoughts you have.

I would like to know what your experience of working with SoilEssentials has been like. What problems do you have that we could maybe help you solve? Are you looking for new products, different technologies? Covid has made it quite clear how fundamental food production is and how important the farmers role is, not just to supply that food, but to do so in a safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly way. We can help you achieve that by creating user-friendly applications at a farm level and tested on our farms. 3. Graham Ralston . Technical Director and Farmer

In the machine control team we are involved with Trimble guidance and steering systems, Truetracker implement steering for the vegetable and potato grower, application control, data collection, yield mapping, correction services – including our own EssentialsNet RTK network – that works across multiple brands and has been established and trusted for over 10 years. 4. Gregor Welsh . Hardware Development . Farmer

Hi, I am available to discuss products sold in the machine control portfolio. In particular, ISOBUS solutions for application control and the products available from Mueller Electronics. I also have an extensive working knowledge of guidance and correction solutions for grassland farmers.

7. Catriona McLean . Agronomy Team Co-ordinator

The agronomy team deliver a range of services and I am here to talk about all the different options. For GPS Soil Sampling, we offer pH, nutrients as well as many other samples. Our accurate Area Measuring service can be used for a variety of reasons – rented potato land, field drains, new field boundaries etc. Drone flying is one of our newer services where we come out and fly your fields to view the crop in more detail – Ideal for recording areas of poorer growth, allowing for further investigation. 8. Alison Easson . Customer Success Manager

I would love to speak with anyone at all that has had any involvement with SoilEssentials over the years, whether that be buying a guidance or steering system, soil sampling fields, been involved with a project… the list goes on. We are a hugely technical and innovative company, always getting involved with new ideas – some we have cracked and perhaps some we haven’t! I have now moved from the Agronomy team into a customer success role and I would very much like to gain completely honest feedback on where and how we can improve, how to take any negatives and turn them into positives.
