"I first approached Soilessentials to help me manage my farm more efficiently. I run an arable farm and have other business ventures that take up my time. Sometimes I cannot get round all my land as much as I would like. I also did not want to carry on correcting problems after they had cost me a season's reduced yield. Part of what I do is to apply soil conditioners on my land and manage my base fertilisers in a site specific manner. The compost involves a lot of work and I want to be certain that it is not at the cost of yield.
Soilessentials provided me with a CropCircle canopy sensor and ancillary equipment. I use this as a spare pair of eyes. It means that I can see the detail of how my crops are growing without having to cover all the land myself. A map of the size and health of the crop canopy is made with every pass. Where we find a problem we respond to it quickly and usually sort it out during that growing season. The rabbit damage and compaction costs have been qualified and corrected with the knowledge that I am getting my investment returned. It has given me increased confidence that the way I am looking after my soils with composts is cost effective.
